Water Deamge to a Laptop especially MacBook

BEFORE / AFTER

Problem

Dealing with water damage to a MacBook, especially when it affects the motherboard, can be a challenging and delicate process. Here are the steps and considerations involved in repairing such damage:

Immediate Actions After Water Exposure

  1. Power Off Immediately: If your MacBook is still on, shut it down immediately.
  2. Disconnect Power: Unplug any power source and disconnect peripherals.
  3. Drying: Turn the MacBook upside down to prevent water from seeping further into the device. Use a dry, absorbent cloth to wipe off any visible moisture.

Solution

You cannot upgrade DDR4 RAM to DDR5 RAM in a laptop as the pin layout is different on both the RAM itself and the socket on the motherboard at the point where you plug one into the other. This means upgrading from DDR4 to DDR5 without completely changing the motherboard is impossible, and whilst you can do this for a desktop gaming PC, upgrading the motherboard of your laptop is not something you can do.
